The Port of Tyne ( Newcastle ) is situated 8 miles east of Newcastle City Centre on the north bank of the River Tyne.
The upto date Newcastle Ferry Port Terminal operated by DFDS Seaways deal with over 700,000 passengers a year & offer excellent facilities including covered walkways, check-in areas, & automated baggage handling.
The City of Newcastle offers great shopping and attractions, as well as a regenerated waterfront. It makes an ideal base for the wonderful surrounding countryside.
DIRECTIONS
Directions by Car
From the west follow signs to the City, & then signs for coast which leads to the A1058. Follow signs to ferries & North Sea, which leads to Newcastle Ferry Port ( Royal Quays ).

From both the north & south follow A19 to Tyne Tunnel roundabout which is north of the River Tyne, then follow signs to ferries & North Sea, which leads to Newcastle Ferry Port ( Royal Quays ).
Directions by Train

Newcastle Central Railway Station is located in Neville Street which is approx 20 minutes away from the ferry terminal.
A shuttle bus ( no. 327 ) to the Ferry Port Terminal, operates from the end of the short stay car park 1 hour 30 minutes & 2 hours 30 minutes every ferry sailing. Current costs are £3.80 per person ( single journey ) which is paid to the driver.
Taxis are available at most times on the station rank.

Terminal Facilities
Newcastle Ferry Port Terminal facilities include a Cafe, Bureau de change, Bar, Shop, Ticket Sales and Enquiries, Games arcade, Hot & Cold Drinks Vending Machines, & baby changing facilities. There is also an Link ATM at the nearby Royal Quays shopping centre located opposite the Burger King.
Car Parking
There is a secure car park at the quay by Ferry Port Terminal, which is payable upon entry by either cash or cheque.
The current charge is free for the first 12 hours then £12.00 per day thereafter.

Nearest Petrol Station

There is a Tesco Express Service Station on North Shields Beach Road, approx 2 miles from the Ferry Port Terminal. It has a shop, toilets, car wash & an ATM.
